Certificate in Design Development
The Certificate in Design Development introduces students to the processes used by designers to create garment collections, from design sketching, to mood boards and range boards. The course looks at interpreting and creating briefs, together with following designs through to product development planning for sample ranges.

- Principles of design
- Design terminology
- Design trends through history to present day
- Introduction to trend forecasting
- Sketching and presentation techniques
- Mood boards and range boards
- Analysing a design brief
- Writing a design brief
- Design analysis and product development
Course Structure:
- 8 modules delivered over 8 weeks
- 1:1 coaching sessions conducted fortnightly in an online virtual classroom
- Coaching sessions set at student’s personal pace
- 2 extra follow up coaching sessions after course completion

Designer’s Workroom
Resources Provided:
- Individual student portal for online course delivery and communication with mentor
- Step-by-step comprehensive videos of tutorials
- Step-by-step professionally produced workbooks, mirroring the tutorials

Assessment:
Students produce a portfolio of design work for presentation.
